Our Condition Standard

Condition is the foundation of a curated resale purchase, so we describe it plainly and completely. Every piece is inspected by hand before it is listed, and its condition is written out in full within its product description, alongside photographs.

How pieces are graded

New and Open Box. The piece has not been used in a home. Packaging may have been opened for inspection and photography. On close inspection, minor traces of handling or transport may be present.

Staging. The piece has been used to furnish a staged interior and has not lived a household life. It presents cleanly, and on close inspection, minor traces of handling, transportation, or storage may be present.

Pre-Owned. The piece has been used in a home and is graded honestly. It has been detailed and thoroughly cleaned before listing. As with all pre-owned furnishings, signs of use will be present upon close inspection, and they are noted in the listing where they exist.

Photographs

Some images are digitally staged for inspiration. A staged image shows a piece in a styled room setting and is a representation, not a photograph of the actual item. Every listing also includes photographs of the actual piece, and where more than one of a piece is held, the photographs show an example in the condition described. The written condition notes in each listing describe the piece you will receive.

Measurements

Measurements are taken by hand and may vary slightly from a manufacturer's published dimensions. Please confirm your space, doorways, and access before purchasing.

Natural materials

Natural materials, including marble, stone, wood, and leather, vary in veining, grain, and tone from piece to piece. That variation is inherent to the material and is not a defect.

Determinations

Every piece offered by 43054 Curated Home is assessed in person before it is listed. Condition designations, including new, open box, upscale staging, and pre-owned, reflect that hands-on assessment and are made in good faith as determinations, not guarantees. Details such as color, fabric, finish, and configuration are likewise identified to the best of our ability, from labels, documentation, and direct inspection. Because many pieces have passed through showrooms, model settings, or prior ownership, and in some cases no longer carry their manufacturer labels, a determination may differ from a manufacturer’s own classification, and minor variations from original specifications are possible. Customers are encouraged to review all photographs, measurements, and condition notes carefully, and to ask any questions before purchasing.
